Eriophorum tenellum Nutt.
Common Name: COTTON-GRASS
Coefficient of Conservatism: 10
Coefficient of Wetness: -5
Wetness Index: OBL
Physiognomy: Nt P-Sedge

Bogs, conifer swamps under spruce and tamarack, and occasionally in other wet open places.

The scales somewhat resemble those of E. virginicum, and occasional specimens with narrow leaves may be confused. The scabrous upper portion of the culm of E. tenellum is usually a helpful character (in E. virginicum it is scabrous at most for a few millimeters immediately below the inflorescence).
