Sphagnum bogs, patterned fens, sandy, intermittent wetlands; first collected in Michigan in 1983 in a large patterned fen in Luce Co. by D. Henson.

This very inconspicuous species will undoubtedly turn up elsewhere in the region, where it is quite disjunct from its usual Atlantic Coastal Plain range and even from its Ontario occurrences.
