Jack pine plains and other sandy (or rocky), savannas on plains or low dunes, with oak, pines, and/or aspen; deciduous forests, especially along borders and in openings; river- and stream-bank thickets.

An easily recognized, smooth (even glaucous) species, our only umbellifer with yellow flowers and strictly entire leaflets.
