Spiranthes lucida B. S. Walters

Stream banks, lake shores, seepy hillsides; in calcareous sands, muck, or marl, often in somewhat disturbed sites; very local. This is the earliest species of Spiranthes to flower, often in full bloom by mid-June in southern Michigan. The bright yellow to yellow-orange lip is striking and diagnostic.
