Meadows and prairies, in dry to moist sandy acid soils, sometimes under bracken, or in Polytrichum mats, very local, but perhaps increasing in the State.

This tiniest species of Spiranthes resembles a miniature S. lacera, but with a pure white lip. Blooming in August, somewhat later than the common S. lacera var. lacera.
