Panicum microcarpon of Michigan Flora.

Moist forests and thickets, our few collections mostly without habitat data.

Some plants of D. sphaerocarpon may seem to have spikelets glabrous and hence would run here, but the nodes are glabrous or with appressed-ascending hairs. With some justification, sometimes joined with D. dichotomum as subsp. microcarpon (Elliott) Freckmann & Lelong or var. ramulosum (Torrey) LeBlond. Sometimes also just considered a part of the overall variation of D. dichotomum.
