Panicum xanthophysum of Michigan Flora.

Usually in dry sandy or rocky open ground or forests (aspen, jack pine, oak), including low dune ridges. The panicle is very narrow, with stiffly ascending, nearly simple branches. See comments under D. clandestinum.
