Nigella damascena R. W. Smith

A garden plant, native to the Mediterranean region, rarely escaped along roadsides, etc. First collected in 1884 in Kent Co.

The white to pale blue flowers are large (up to ca. 4 cm across) and the fruit is inflated, of united follicles.
