Aster modestus of Michigan Flora.

This boreal species ranges from James Bay to the Yukon, south barely into the United States in the Lake Superior region and the Pacific Northwest. There are several collections from shores, alder thickets, and open fields at Isle Royale, along with one from a cedar swamp at Cat Harbor on the Keweenaw Co. mainland.
