Mahonia aquifolium of Michigan Flora.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, a popular cultivated evergreen shrub escaped from cultivation in forests far from habitation as well as ruderal sites close to plantings and urban areas; first collected in 1935 in Kalamazoo Co.
