Weedy, but apparently native in the eastern United States, and perhaps Michigan. The earliest Michigan specimens were collected in Branch Co., in 1837 and at Grand Prairie, Kalamazoo Co., in 1838 by the First Survey. Now widespread in fields, shores, gardens, roadsides, and other disturbed areas.
