An Old World native, rare in our area but commonly established in western North America. Collected by O. A. Farwell along a railroad in Lapeer Co. in 1923, and in 1930 at River Rouge and Detroit, Wayne Co. Often misidentified as A. argentea Nutt., which has entire rather than sinuate leaves, bracteoles united about half their length, and the foliage densely covered with silvery-scurfy scales.
