Collected in 1900 by E. J. Cole in a meadow along a road near Grand Rapids, Kent Co. Also collected as an “accidental” in a nursery on Mackinac Island (W. H. Manning n.d. [1915?], GH). In both instances, undoubtedly introduced from the native range south and west of Michigan.
