Chenopodium aristatum of Michigan Flora.

Originally described from Siberia, and a weed from there across China to Korea and Japan. The species was found in Michigan in Alpena Co. in 1981 (Gereau & Rabeler, 1984), the second verified occurrence in North America. It is now apparently an abundant annual weed around Alpena, conspicuously turning beet-red in the fall. It was possibly introduced by foreign shipping at the port of Alpena.
