Carex eburnea S. Farrington

Usually under cedar (also fir, jack pine, and white spruce) on moist sandy or calcareous gravelly soil near the shores of Lakes Michigan and Huron (very rarely Lake Superior); a distinctive species, forming dense mats of fine foliage; also inland in moist cedar thickets, on logs in wet conifer swamps, and marly, clay, or rocky bluffs and banks.
