Carex prairea Dewey
Common Name: SEDGE
Coefficient of Conservatism: 10
Coefficient of Wetness: -3
Wetness Index: FACW
Physiognomy: Nt P-Sedge

Calcareous wet sedge meadows, swales, fens, marshy shores, tamarack and cedar swamps, and stream banks. The perigynia range in length from 2.1 to 3 mm, but are usually 2.6–3 mm, and flattish on the ventral face at maturity.

Although present in the eastern Upper Peninsula, a May 1902 Farwell collection purported to be from Keweenaw Co. is likely mis-labeled and is not mapped. The specimen is fully mature and the month seems impossible.
