Panicum oligosanthes of Michigan Flora.
Dry open usually sandy ground, fields, prairies, oak forests; sometimes occurring in quite disturbed habitats.
Very variable in pubescence of leaf blades and sheaths. Most if not all Michigan specimens may be referred to subsp. scribnerianum (Nash) Freckmann & Lelong, which has somewhat more numerous and smaller spikelets than subsp. oligosanthes. See also notes under D. commonsianum.
